The Chevrolet Impala is a comfortable and convenient car, practical and enjoyable to drive. We find its neat, clean lines pleasing to the eye. Its styling looks fresh and it is. The Impala benefits from its recent redesign for 2006.
Several upgrades and refinements for 2007 make for a better car: The available 3.9-liter V6 gets GM’s Active Fuel Management system, which idles cylinders at certain times for improved fuel economy. A tire-pressure monitor comes standard. OnStar comes standard and has been upgraded for 2007, offering the new Turn-by-Turn navigation service. And OnStar will automatically communicate the nature and severity of a crash as well as its location to the 911 centers. Read the rest of this entry »

Many causes of car accident collisions are due to:
- drunk driving
- drowsiness
- negligence
- distractions
- cell phone misuse
- aggressive driving
- poor road conditions
- mechanical failure
- speeding
One major car accident injury causing distraction from above is misuse of cell phones. Research studies show that the number of cell phone subscribers has grown from 94 million in the year 2000 to about 130 million today. It is therefore not hard to imagine how many of them use their cell phone while driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 85 percent of these cell phone subscribers talk on the phone while they are operating a car. It has also been estimated that 6 percent of automobile accidents per year are caused by drivers talking on their cell phone. This means that a total of 2,600 people will die in cell-phone related car accidents this year.

I flew into Los Angeles with aspirations of driving something powerful; I had visions of some mighty motor displacing six liters or more. Anything with the letters AMG on the back would have suited me just fine. Instead I was staring at a gigantic Mercedes GL 320 CDI. That’s CDI as in “diesel.” I reckoned it was going to be a long drive to San Diego. I reckoned wrong. Read the rest of this entry »
