Acura RL 2009 review.

The Acura RL receives a host of changes for the 2009 model year, but the most recognizable one is its new front end, which takes on the shield theme the automaker uses on its MDX luxury SUV. It’s a distinctive look for sure, but I’m not convinced it’ll resonate with luxury sedan buyers. Read the rest of this entry »

Acura Integra review.

Price, performance, and refinement aren’t always compatible attributes, but Acura has successfully combined all three in the Integra family of coupes and sedans. Smart-looking, comfortable, and fun to drive, any Integra represents a satisfying choice.

Our favorite is the GS-R: sport coupes don’t come much better than this. The GS-R makes any driver feel like a hero, almost anticipating your wishes, filling your senses with delicious sounds and seat-of-the-pants sensations. Open the throttle, and the twin-cam engine growls with authority and revs like there’s no tomorrow. Read the rest of this entry »

Acura NSX review.

The Acura NSX was a sensational supercar when it was introduced in 1990, and it remains one of the most sophisticated sports car designs around. It’s built a lot like a prototype racing car, made civilized for the street, with many interior fittings straight off the Acura shelf. But sophisticated and racy do not mean fussy and challenging to drive. In the NSX they mean mild-mannered when you need it to be, exciting when you want it to be. And always the focus of attention. Acura TL 2008 review.

Acura RSX Review.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to honor the Acura RSX, whose life was cut short by overlapping products and muddled brand identity. Since 2002, this, the US version of the fourth generation Honda Integra, has enjoyed strong consumer support and numerous awards from erstwhile auto critics, including two consecutive year’s on Car and Driver’s 10Best list. But we are not here to debate the value of ad-sponsored gongs or mourn the passing of a beloved automobile. We are here to celebrate a life well lived. Read the rest of this entry »

Acura RDX 2008 review.

The Acura RDX is all about sporty driving, which is why it uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine to make its hearty 240 horsepower. This is the first turbocharged engine that Acura has produced. It’s 2.3 liters, and comes out of the Acura TSX, with many changes making a completely different powerband.

Proving its commitment to sport, the RDX uses a sequential five-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, a firm independent suspension made for cornering, and Acura’s patented SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system, which delivers a higher proportion of power to the outside rear wheel under hard cornering, thus keeping the car in line. It appears Honda is moving forward with plans to further distinguish the Acura brand as high-performance, luxury and All -wheel drive capable. Acura MDX 2008 review.

The new Acura MDX offers a quiet ride and brisk acceleration performance. With the five-speed automatic, the MDX is rated to tow up to 5000 pounds. The 2007 Acura MDX benefits from a completely new platform, suspension, and unit-construction body with a built-in frame and subframes front and rear. The MDX is really stout, some 15 percent stronger in torsional bending and seven percent stronger in lateral bending. This time out, it has 56 percent of its body in high-strength steel as opposed to the original MDX’s 13-percent HSLA steel content. It’s longer and wider, with a 2.5-inch longer wheelbase and similar gain in overall length. All that adds up to a quieter ride quality, with zero squeaks, creaks, groans or rattles.
