While the name Town Car has been used by Lincoln as a trim level since the 1960s, 1981 marked the first year the Lincoln Town Car became a model unto itself. Since then, it has become a favorite with traditional American buyers as well as fleet operators, and for good reason. The big car’s front-engine V8, rear-wheel-drive layout and its body-on-frame construction generally mean lower maintenance costs, plus the car drives and handles in a way that’s familiar to many longtime Lincoln customers. The Lincoln MKX is an upscale alternative to the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano, offering the features of pricier crossovers from Acura, BMW, Infiniti, and Lexus. Introduced for the 2007 model year, the MKX is a crossover utility vehicle, or CUV, meaning it has the roominess and cargo capacity of an SUV but is built like a car for improved fuel economy, a smoother ride and better handling. The Lincoln MKS, an all-new luxury sedan, goes on sale in early 2008 as a 2009 model.
Positioned as Lincoln’s flagship luxury sedan the MKS is bigger than the MKZ, and Lincoln is calling it a full-size luxury sedan.
The MKS is a V6-powered, front-wheel-drive car. All-wheel drive will available. Its 3.7-liter V6 delivers 270 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. No V8 is available.
