For the second year running, the Land Rover Discovery 3 has scooped the ‘Best Towcar over 1900kgs’ award at the Practical Caravan, What Car? and the Camping & Caravanning Club Towcar Awards 2008.

The Discovery 3 has a class-leading towing capacity of 3500kgs and combined with permanent four-wheel drive, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), rear park distance control, air suspension, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Assist, and Terrain Responseâ„¢ it proved unbeatable amongst other competition.

John Edwards, Land Rover UK managing director commented: “We are very proud to have scooped this award for the second year, beating off tough new rivals such as the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and the Mercedes ML. The Discovery 3 is one of the most awarded cars ever, which is testament not only to this vehicle’s versatility but also to the continued strength of British engineering.”

Judges of the 2008 awards added: “Last year the Discovery 3 was a clear winner in this class. In 2008, some very tough competition ran the Land Rover close, but it has held on to the heavyweight class for a second year. Other cars can’t match the Discovery’s broad blend of talents. In particular, the cabin is exceptionally spacious and versatile. In fact, the Discovery barely dropped a point in our practicality tests.”
